| Junior Elite match Wellington Scholars |
We had an excellent junior match against a strong Wellington College side and halved the event 4-4. In showery conditions the teams navigated their way twice around the tight nine hole course. We were without two of our senior players - James Brockington on holiday in the US and Jordan Mann playing for Wellington at number 4. Playing at number 1, Jake Canning is still to break his duck against England International girl Alex Peters and Sam Westmancoat suffered similarly Find out more... |

| MUGS match means 8 all in the series |
The annual MUGS match against Surrey was played away this year at a beautiful West Hill Golf Course on a very windy but dry day. Unfortunately the U16s lost 4 out of the 5 morning foursomes matches leaving us too much to do in the afternoon. The overall result was that Surrey won by 9 points to 6 after the singles matches were halved.
The series now stands at 8 matches all and next year we will play at home back at Huntercombe. |
| U14 Team Plays Ryder Cup Home |
On Monday August 17th the Under 14s went to Verulam for the last league match of this season. The Hertforshire club was the place where Samuel Ryder first proposed a match between two teams from either side of the Atlantic and which started one of the sport''s most famous competitions.
Our own competition was to play Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire with a win against both giving us the possibility of this years league title.
We trailed both Counties after the morning foursom Find out more... |

| Double Victory For Under 14 |
Four boys took maximum points at The Bedford Club on August 3rd to set up comprehensive victories against Middlesex and Bedfordshire.
Matteo DiCarlofelice, Sam Brass, Alex Bruce and Harvey Coyle all won both foursomes and both singles on a sunny but breezy day.
Foursomes are a difficult format but the morning event established a good new pairing between Di Carlofelice and Alistair Cameron with a strong double win out at number 2. A similar performance came from debutant Dav Find out more... |
| Good Start for Under 14 |
The BB&O Under 14 team kicked off their season with some good performances at Farnham Park.
In the tri-County match the team narrowly lost to a strong Herts team and comprehensively defeated Middlesex.

| Luke Williams our 2009 BB&O Junior Champion |
| Luke Williams (Hadden Hill) beat Tyrrell Hatton (Harleyford) in a sensational 3 hole play off at Mill Ride on 9th April. Tied on 145 after 36 holes, a large crowd gathered to watch as Tyrrell started with 2 excellent pars and found himself 3 shots adrift after Luke's 2 twos at the short 15th and par 4 16th! Tyrrell's birdie 3 at the difficult 14th was to no avail as Luke calmly held his nerve to land his first big title. You can watch this event at www.buckstv.co.uk |
| Max wins the McEvoy! |
| Max Smith (Newbury Race Course & England U18) wins the 2009 Peter McEvoy 5 under par with rounds of 69, 35, 69 and 70, one shot clear from Billy Downing (Truro) with Joshua White (Chipstead) in third place. Heavy thunder reduced the first day's play to 27 holes and steady rain fall on the second day meant greens staff were kept busy keeping the greens free from casual water. | U13/12 vs County Girls |
28/9/2008 Hazlemere Golf Club
On a sunny day with some very fast greens the U13/12s BB&O boys played a representative Girls side from the three Lady Unions. The game was played in excellent spirit and some great golf was seen from both sides. This was the first of these matches and hopefully will become a regular fixture. After a very close match the boys gained an excellent win against a strong girls squad 5-4.

| Junior Manager Vacancy |
| The BB&O Junior Management team is hoping to recruit a new Junior Manager following the resignation of Mike Styrka, the present U12 Manager, who has been in the role for some five years. We hope to attract a keen supporter of Junior Golf, someone who can spend time organising and supervising matches and coaching sessions. A person who is willing and able to be part of the strategic and tactical decision making forum. Someone, male or female, who can devote up to 10 odd days a year supporting Cou Find out more... |
| Open Days update |
| The recently staged open days were a huge success again with about 100 boys and girls attending the sessions at the three venues. So successful have they been so good was the talent that it will take us longer than anticipated to report back to individual participants. We aim to do this by early November. Thank you for your patience. |
| BB&O v Sussex Under 18s at Crews Hill |
| Dean Newbold (Frilford Heath) and Steven O'Connor (Tadmarton Heath) were the only winners for BB&O in the morning foursomes in which Sussex led by 4 points to 1. In the afternoon singles Chris Whelehan (West Berkshire), Steven O'Connor and James Bromham (Richings Park) all lost very close matches on the eighteenth whilst Michael Johnson (Maidenhead) came tantalisingly close to a win on the last green but secured a half. | BB&O v Middlesex Under 18s at Crews Hill |
Dean Newbold (Frilford Heath) and Steven O'Connor (Tadmarton Heath) were the only winners for BB & O in the morning foursomes which Middlesex won by 3.5 points to 1.5.
The afternoon singles saw a spirited fight by BB&O but the margins of victories in every match really meant that the overall result was a foregone conclusion at the turn. Nevertheless there were some good victories by Chris Whelehan (West Berkshire), the Frilford pair of Dean Newbold and George Munsey, James Bromham (Richin Find out more... |

| BB&O v Surrey Under 16s at Huntercombe |
on August 26th 2008
The Mortimer Ubiquitous Golf Society (MUGS) hosted this event for the fifteenth consecutive year and, with home advantage, BB & O raced to an early lead in most of the foursomes and maintained that lead to lunch with what seemed like a comfortable advantage. However, a spirited fight back by Surrey in the afternoon singles clearly showed that the advantage was not comfortable.

| The EGU SE group Foursomes took place at the Warren this August and having come third in this event last year the BB&O boys took the title for the first time since 1989 when Rob Watts and Jason Brant, now both County coaches, were part of that winning team. Taking an early lead after the first morning with a perfect 4 points, the boys repeated that performance in the afternoon and again the next morning thus going into the final afternoon's play 4 points ahead ahead of 2nd placed Sussex. | Fifteen year old George Munsey (Frilford Heath) wins the Gold Medal at Woodhall Spa. Played on the Bracken Course George put together two good rounds of 34 and 38 to win the prize by one shot from his two nearest rivals. Played under difficult conditions, the first day's 34 left him in eleventh position but conditions improved on the second day and George shot a 38 which was equalled by one other player. | Home Counties Final League Match |
On August 12th the team visited North Middlesex Golf Club for the final match of the Home Counties series. The course was in excellent condition with some tricky holes to negotiate.
With two of the squad playing at the Reid Trophy we made some changes to the team at a blustery day with newcomers Declan Duffy and Josh Brass making their debut.
After the foursome we were level with Bedfordshire and trailing Middlesex by 2 points. Everybody scored at least a half and this proved to be Find out more... |

| Under 14's v Herts and Beds |
The team played the second match of the season at home to another strong Herts side and a good team from Beds.
The morning foursomes saw us earn a decisive win against Beds 5-0 but a lack of concentration on the last holes left us trailing Herts 1-4.
We carried on the good performance in the afternoon against Beds with a fine 8-2 victory in the singles but the deficit on Herts was too much to make up and we lost to them.

| Under 14s v Herts and Middlesex |
On July 29th the team travelled to Aldenham, and despite two defeats by strong Herts and Middlesex teams the BB&O boys showed some excellent promise for the coming years. For most players this was their County debut and they handled themselves very well both on and off the course. Everyone enjoyed themselves and were very tired at the end of the day but were all a great credit to the County.
