The BB&O Coaching squad

Between them our coaches have a breadth of talent, skills and experience that is unlikely to be surpassed in any coaching structure in the country as you can see when you study their short individual profiles. Additionally they are located conveniently across the BB&O territory so access to your nearest County coach should never be too much of a problem.

Headed up by John Cook (Witney Lakes Resort), the team comprises Shay Brennan (Witney Lakes Resort), Jason Brant (East Berkshire), Andy Etherington (Witney Lakes Resort), Dusan Gavrilovic (Magnolia Park), Paul Schunter (The Buckinghamshire), Andy Taylor (Kirtlington) and Rob Watts (Castle Royle Golf & Country Club).


John Cook
John was appointed County Head Coach, effective August 1st 2007. John is a past English Amateur Champion and winner on both the European and African Tours. He was Coach to the England Boys Team from 1994 to 2003 during which time England recorded its best results throughout the World since records began. John taught with Gary Player for four years in South Africa and more recently was National Coach to Thailand. John runs the very popular 'John Cook School of Golf' at Witney Lakes.John Cook
Shay Brennan
Shay teaches at Witney Lakes, where he has particular responsibility for junior coaching. He gained a Cass 1 honours degree in Applied Golf Management Studies, the only golf degree of its kind in the world. AMGS is a collaboration between the University of Birmingham and the PGA. One of his research study documents has since been included as a leading research activity in the databases of the R&A and PGA. Shay's other specialist knowledge incorporates dietary and nutritional requirements specific to golf, sports psychology, sports science and injury prevention.

Jason Brant
Jason, 37, a PGA professional, turned pro in 1994 and is Head Professional at East Berkshire Golf club and has had a background in coaching from grass roots to Tournament Professionals. Before turning 'pro' Jason played for the County and has subsequently coached a number of players at Junior, Colt and Senior level and has gained an interest and knowledge of County golf and County golfers. For the last 5 years he has written for the "Today's Golfer" magazine and has had the opportunity to meet and work with some of the most highly regarded Coaches within the game. Having been a Tournament Professional Jason can offer expert advice on preparing for events along with handling the pressures of tournament golf.

 

 
Dusan Gavrilovic
Dusan is a PGA AA Professional. As an amateur he represented the BB&O and since turning professional he has won numerous Pro-am's and also the BB&O Players Championship and BB&O Open Championship. Dusan is qualified as an NLP practitioner. He attended David Lee's school in the USA where he became qualified as a Gravity Golf Coach. He is also a Heartmath practitioner, a technique practiced by several PGA Tour players.
Paul Schunter       
Paul became Head Professional at The Buckinghamshire Golf Club in November 2005.  Paul has been a professional since 1994 and fully qualified as a PGA Professional since 1997.  He has built up a first class reputation and teaches golfers of all abilities from beginners through to scratch amateurs and professionals. Paul also enjoys competing at a high level, he still holds several course records and has spent time playing on the European Challenge Tour.
Andy Taylor
Andy began his amateur career in the company of players such as Jesper Parnevik at the British Boys Championship. He turned professional at the age of 17 and has developed players to BB&O Championship victories but he is equally happy working with players of all levels, from beginners to European Tour professionals. He is also coach to the Oxfordshire Girls County squad and has seen their average handicap reduce by half. He is a Lead Tutor on the PGA Coach Education Programme and is Final Examiner for the PGA Foundation Degree Programme. From the Academy Andy has established at Kirtlington Golf Club, a Community Links Project is in operation and provides opportunities for junior golf development, from grass-roots level to county golf.
Rob Watts
Rob is Head Professional at Castle Royle Golf & Country Club. Since he was 15 years old he has been involved in BB&O golf and was both Boys and Colts captain.
He turned professional in 1993 and has since clocked up an impressive 39 pro-am victories and was 2004 BB&O Open Champion and 1999 BB&O PGA Champion. Rob's credentials include; AA PGA PRO, CHEK Exercise Coach and CHEK Nutrition & Lifestyle Coach. He also holds a Diploma in Sports Hypnosis and is a REPS Level III Fitness Coach. Rob is currently also the fitness coach to several European tour players, Challenge tour players and Euro pro players.
